UK's Internet Watchdog Targets Storage and File Sharing Services for Illegal Content

On March 17, 2025, Ofcom, the UK's internet regulator, launched a new monitoring program targeting online storage and file-sharing services. This initiative follows the entry into force of obligations related to combating illegal content under the UK's Online Safety Act (OSA). Ofcom emphasized that file storage and sharing services are particularly vulnerable to exploitation for illegal activities.
