Major EHR Provider Sues Data Brokers for Impersonating Healthcare Entities to Sell Patient Data

Epic Systems, a leading provider of electronic health records (EHR) systems, has filed a lawsuit in California against data brokers and other entities accused of posing as medical facilities to obtain nearly 300,000 patient records. The complaint alleges that these companies illegally monetized the data, including selling it to lawyers seeking participants for class action lawsuits.
