SanDisk Releases Open-Source SPRandom Tool for High-Capacity SSD Testing

SanDisk has made SPRandom open source, a testing tool designed for high-capacity SSDs. This project aims to optimize SSD qualification cycles in enterprise environments, where preconditioning phases can last several days for a single device. Enterprise SSDs now reach capacities of 256TB or more, requiring testing methods tailored to demanding use cases such as AI, analytics, and large-scale databases. SPRandom enables placing an SSD in a stable state to assess its performance and endurance before deployment.
