Predator Spyware Exploits iOS SpringBoard to Hide Surveillance
SecurityAppleMobile
Intellexa’s Predator spyware targets iOS devices by hooking into SpringBoard, the system interface manager, to conceal microphone and camera activity indicators while secretly streaming live feeds to its operators. The spyware achieves this by manipulating iOS’s visual cues, preventing users from detecting unauthorized surveillance. No specific iOS versions, dates, or CVE identifiers were disclosed in the report. The impact includes covert access to sensitive audio and video data without user awareness. The technique exploits SpringBoard’s role in managing app interactions and system notifications.
