Security Agencies Warn of China-Linked Threat Actor OpenClaw; Google Acquires Wiz; Telus Data Breach
Security agencies in the U.S., U.K., and Australia issued joint warnings about China-linked threat actor OpenClaw, which has targeted critical infrastructure sectors since at least 2021. The group exploits vulnerabilities in network devices, including CVE-2024-27198 (JetBrains TeamCity) and CVE-2023-46805 (Ivanti Connect Secure), to deploy custom malware like ClawBack and Snake. OpenClaw’s operations focus on espionage and long-term persistence, with victims spanning energy, telecommunications, and government entities. Cloud security firm Wiz was acquired by Google for $23 billion in a deal finalized on March 14, 2026, marking one of the largest cybersecurity acquisitions to date. Canadian telecom provider Telus confirmed a data breach exposing 1 petabyte (PB) of sensitive customer and corporate data, attributed to a third-party vendor compromise in February 2026.
