On March 22, a hacker took control of NYU's website for at least two hours, leaking data belonging to more than 3 million applicants. The compromised information included names, test scores, majors, zip codes, as well as information related to family members and financial aid. The hacked page displayed charts purporting to show disparities in admissions based on race, with the hacker alleging that NYU continued race-sensitive admissions practices despite the Supreme Court's 2023 decision against affirmative action.
