Is Archive.is / Archive.today Compromised? Redirect to Russia Today

The user noticed that removepaywall.com redirects to Russia Today. After a closer inspection, it seems that requests directed to archive.is are redirected to RT, but only when the referer header is set to removepaywall.com. Without this header, the request resolves normally. The user suggests that this could indicate an attack targeting paywall removal services and that archive.today might be compromised.
