Cybersecurity Alert: 2 Million-User Chrome Extension Adds Affiliate Tracking Component

A cybersecurity researcher analyzed the Volume Booster Chrome extension, which has over 2 million users. Between versions 1.0.3 (June 27, 2025) and 1.0.4 (July 2, 2025), the extension added a Give Freely/Wildlink component via new content scripts that run on all websites. The update introduced merchant detection, affiliate attribution, and donation campaign features without requiring new permissions. The same Give Freely/Wildlink infrastructure was also found in other unrelated extensions.
