Malicious Actors Exploit CS2 Tournaments to Steal Steam Accounts and Cryptocurrencies
CybersecurityPhishingCryptocurrencyGaming
Malicious actors are exploiting major Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) competitions, such as the IEM Katowice 2025 and the PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025, to scam players and steal their Steam accounts and cryptocurrencies. These attacks use falsified CS2 tournament streams to deceive users and trick them into revealing their sensitive information. Cybercriminals create websites and live streams mimicking official events, luring victims with promises of rewards or exclusive content. Once users fall into the trap, their Steam accounts and cryptocurrency wallets are compromised.
