Aviation Cybersecurity Risks Highlighted by Cyviation CEO, Including Drone Vulnerabilities and GNSS Jamming

Eliran Almog, CEO of Cyviation, highlighted that aviation cybersecurity risks primarily originate from ground-based systems while aircraft remain unmonitored. A disclosed PX4 Autopilot vulnerability allows drone command channels to accept unsigned messages, posing security risks. GNSS jamming incidents were noted to leave no trace in Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems. The Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) was identified as less critical than the data loading chain supporting it. Almog advocated for digital twins as a solution to enhance aviation cybersecurity.
