Apple Introduces Reference Image Feature for iPhone 18 Pro to Verify Photo Authenticity

Apple has introduced Apple Reference Image, an opt-in feature for iPhone 18 Pro models designed to verify the authenticity of photos. The feature provides users with an unalterable reference photo that visually confirms what the sensor captured at the moment the photo was taken. Apple stated the technology would be particularly important for photojournalists, photographers, and everyday viewers. The company will also add support for the SynthID standard in a software update.
