
Western Sydney University Reveals Security Breaches Exposing Personal Information

Western Sydney University (WSU) has disclosed two security incidents that exposed personal information of members of its community. The first incident, which occurred in December 2022, involved unauthorized access to a learning management system, affecting approximately 4,500 students. The second incident, discovered in July 2023, involved a data leak due to an incorrect configuration of a server, exposing personal information of 1,500 students and staff members. The exposed data includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, and student numbers. WSU has taken steps to secure the affected systems and has notified the individuals concerned.
