Experts from the company "Doctor Web" have discovered pre-installed malware in low-cost Android smartphones that mimic models from well-known brands. The malicious code is embedded in the WhatsApp messaging application and aims to steal cryptocurrencies using the clipping method. This technique involves modifying cryptographic wallet addresses copied to the clipboard to redirect funds to addresses controlled by the attackers.
