CVE Program Faces Funding Issues, Future Uncertain

The CVE program, which assigns unique identifiers to software vulnerabilities, is facing funding problems. Although the non-profit organization MTRE has obtained a short-term extension, the future of the program is uncertain without a solid funding plan. Some suggest that the CVE program should operate as an independent non-profit organization to remain neutral and sustainable.
