A Samsung engineer and Korean regulators have addressed the question of whether mobile phones listen to users to target advertisements. According to the engineer, applications do not have the ability to activate the microphone to listen to conversations without the user's consent. Korean regulators have also confirmed that there is no evidence that smartphones secretly listen to users to personalize advertisements.
