High Court Rules Insurance Broker Liable for Additional £6 Million Indemnity After Data Breach

The High Court has ruled that an insurance broker is liable for an additional £6 million indemnity to a social landlord following a data breach. Watford Community Housing (WCH) brought a professional negligence action against Arthur J Gallagher Insurance Brokers for failing to make "timely notifications" of the breach to one of its three insurers. The court concluded that the broker had breached its duty, resulting in financial loss for WCH.
