Windscribe, a privacy-focused VPN service, has announced the acquittal of its founder, Yegor Sak, by a court in Athens, Greece, following a two-year legal battle. Sak had been personally charged in connection with an alleged internet offense committed by an unknown user of the service. The case involved a Windscribe server in Finland that was used for a system violation in Greece. Greek authorities, in cooperation with INTERPOL, traced the IP address to Windscribe's infrastructure and initiated criminal proceedings against Sak, rather than following standard international procedures to obtain information through corporate channels. Windscribe does not keep logs, which prevented the handing over of data.
