TikTok Fined €530 Million for GDPR Violations

The Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) has imposed a fine of 530 million euros (601 million dollars) on the video-sharing platform TikTok for violating data protection regulations by transferring the data of European users to China. According to the DPC, TikTok breached the GDPR regarding the transfer of user data from the European Economic Area (EEA) to China and transparency requirements. The violation was announced on Friday by the DPC.
