In April, the South Korean telecommunications giant SK Telecom (SKT) suffered a cyberattack that resulted in the theft of personal data from approximately 23 million customers, nearly half of the country's 52 million inhabitants. During a hearing at the National Assembly in Seoul on Thursday, SKT CEO Young-sang Ryu stated that nearly 250,000 users were affected.
