Google has agreed to pay $1.375 billion to the State of Texas to settle two lawsuits accusing the tech giant of tracking users' personal locations and retaining their facial recognition data without consent. This amount is significantly higher than the fines Google has paid to settle similar lawsuits filed by other U.S. states. In November 2022, Google had paid $391 million to a group of 40 states.
