Issues with New Hires in Cybersecurity Over the Past Five Years

Over the past five years, the author has encountered problems with new hires in cybersecurity. Although they succeed in interviews and use the right buzzwords, they often lack practical skills and the willingness to learn once hired. Even those claiming to be experienced do not always master the basics of the job, requiring constant supervision and frequent corrections.
