Law Enforcement Dismantles Long-Running Botnet Infecting Routers

Law enforcement agencies have dismantled a botnet that has been infecting routers for over 20 years. This botnet supported the operation of two services offering residential proxies: Anyproxy and 5socks. The botnet exploited old routers to create proxy networks, allowing cybercriminals to mask their illegal activities. The services Anyproxy and 5socks were used for various malicious activities, including data theft and online fraud.
