Coinbase Data Breach Due to Bribery of Outsourced Support Workers

Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange platform with over 100 million users, has revealed that a group of attackers bribed external support employees to obtain personal information of approximately 1% of its customers. The cybercriminals attempted to extort the company by demanding 20 million dollars in exchange for not disclosing the data. The incident was reported in May 2025.
