Pakistani authorities have arrested 21 individuals accused of operating "HeartSender," a popular spam and malware distribution service that has been active for over a decade. The primary clients of HeartSender were organized crime groups attempting to deceive victim businesses into making payments to a third party. The alleged owners of HeartSender were publicly identified by KrebsOnSecurity in 2021 after they accidentally infected their own computers with malware.
