In May 2022, Comstar LLC, an ambulance billing service based in Massachusetts, notified an undisclosed number of individuals following a data security breach detected on March 26, 2022. On May 26, 2022, Comstar also informed the HHS of the incident, reporting that 68,957 patients were affected. Today, the HHS OCR announced that Comstar LLC has agreed to a corrective action plan and a fine to settle the charges.
