Poste Italiane has been sanctioned by the Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato (AGCM) for an unfair commercial practice regarding the management of the BancoPosta and PostePay applications. The AGCM imposed a fine of 4 million euros on Poste Italiane for requiring customers to give their consent to data processing in order to use the banking applications, in violation of the GDPR. This practice was deemed to be in blatant contradiction with the GDPR requirements for consent and personal data protection.
