In April 2025, cyberattacks targeted British retailers Marks & Spencer and Co-op, causing up to $592 million in damages. These attacks were classified as a "single combined cyber event" by the Cyber Monitoring Centre (CMC), a non-profit independent organization based in the UK, created by the insurance industry to categorize major cyber events. A single threat actor, known as Scattered Spider, claimed responsibility for both attacks.
