McLaren Healthcare Reports Ransomware Attack Affecting Over 743,000 Patients

On August 5, 2024, McLaren Healthcare detected suspicious activity impacting the computer systems of McLaren Health Care and Karmanos Cancer Institute. The attack affected the computer systems of its 13 hospitals, cancer treatment centers, surgery centers, and clinics. On August 12, McLaren reported that the incident was a ransomware attack. Following this incident, McLaren sent a written notification to 743,131 patients.
