Increase in Android Smartphone Attacks and Iran's Warning Against WhatsApp

According to Kaspersky's report titled "IT threat evolution in Q1 2025: Mobile statistics," attacks on Android smartphones increased in the first quarter of 2025. The number of detected malicious software samples reached 180,000, representing a 27% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2024. Additionally, Iranian state television urged its citizens to delete the WhatsApp messaging application from their smartphones on June 17, alleging without concrete evidence that the app collects user information to transmit to Israel.
