New Video from @NoLimitSecu: ANSSI's Innovation Lab and Cybersecurity Initiatives
In this episode of the No Limite SQ podcast, the team welcomes Jean-Baptiste de Maison, head of the innovation laboratory at the National Agency for the Security of Information Systems (ANSSI). The discussion focuses on ANSSI's innovation approach, particularly through its innovation laboratory, or "lab innovation." The Lab Innovation of ANSSI The lab innovation is an internal entity within ANSSI that brings together agency agents and works with all sub-directorates to create innovative solutions in cybersecurity. Established in 2021, this laboratory uses design and entrepreneurship methods to structure research and investigation work with beneficiaries and the broader ecosystem. The goal is to multiply ANSSI's actions to reach as many entities as possible. Functioning and Projects of the Lab Innovation The lab innovation operates very openly, with open-source projects. It is primarily an internal device for working on new levers of action. The projects are varied and can include guides, digital services, and community initiatives. For example, the "Mon Cyber" project is a community of volunteers who deploy free diagnostics to help entities that are less mature in cybersecurity. Mon Service Sécurisé One of the flagship projects of the lab innovation is "Mon Service Sécurisé," a SaaS service for public agents and providers to establish cyber action plans and accelerate the security certification of their information systems. This service offers a personalized list of security measures to implement and allows entities to measure their security level. It has been selected as a national impact service by the interministerial digital department. Innovation and Collaboration The lab innovation collaborates closely with other state incubators, notably those of the BetaGouv community. This collaboration helps avoid project redundancy and maximize the impact of innovations. For example, the lab uses Proconnect, the France Connect for professionals, for authentication in its services. Mes Services Cyber Another innovative project is "Mes Services Cyber," a platform that presents the offer of services and resources provided by ANSSI and its partners, such as Cybermalveillance and the CNIL. This platform includes a 5-minute cyber maturity test and offers adapted services based on the entity's maturity. Factors of Success and Evaluation The lab innovation measures the impact of its projects through various usage and impact metrics. For example, "Mon Service Sécurisé" has corrected more than 110,000 weaknesses, demonstrating its effectiveness. The lab also uses qualitative and quantitative feedback to continuously improve its services. Conclusion Jean-Baptiste de Maison emphasizes that ANSSI did not wait for the lab innovation to innovate. The agency has always sought to improve its devices to support scaling and address diverse populations. The lab innovation was created to structure and amplify these efforts.
