Description
In October 2020, Animal Jam, a popular online game platform for kids, experienced a data breach exposing data of approximately 46 million user accounts. The breach was first disclosed via online hacking forums in November. Sensitive information compromised included usernames, email addresses, IP addresses, full birth dates, and geographical location details. Passwords were reportedly stored with PBKDF2 hashing. This incident posed a significant risk to the privacy and security of its younger user base.
