Description
In May 2023, FreeCycle, a nonprofit organization, suffered a data breach that resulted in the exposure of email addresses, hashed passwords, and usernames of over 2.5 million users. The breach was detected and reported by FreeCycle on August 30, 2023, when they notified their users about the incident. Although they reassured users that no further personal information was compromised, the breach affected a significant number of subscribers globally. Following the breach notification, a portion of the compromised data was published online in 2024.
