
Germany Fines Vodafone $51 Million for Privacy and Security Breaches

The German data protection authority (BfDI) has imposed a fine of 45 million euros ($51.4 million) on Vodafone GmbH, the German subsidiary of the telecommunications company, for privacy and security violations. Malicious employees in partner agencies, who negotiate contracts on behalf of Vodafone, committed fraud by creating fictitious contracts or modifying existing ones. These incidents led to privacy and security breaches affecting customers.
